It’s with great sadness that we say goodbye to John Doerksen. He is with the Lord now and we are thankful that his suffering is over. Near the end of his life, he often said he just wanted to go home. Absent from the body, but present with the Lord. Continue reading

Saying our Goodbyes in Africa
This will be our last report from Africa…hardly seems real that we will be leaving in a few days! God has given us 13 amazing years here. We’ve experienced in numerous ways God’s grace, His faithfulness, His love, His comfort in difficult and trying times, His discipline in our lives, His protection in our lives and our children’s…and so much more! Thanks so much to each of you who have been such a vital role in our ministry in Guinea. God bless you! Continue reading

Micah feeling better after Migraine
Praise the Lord! Micah is back in school and doing much better! With the help of fellow migraine sufferers and the internet, we were able to conclude that Micah had a bad reaction to the strawberry/orange punch that I had made on Sunday. It was a packet of “Foster Clarks” which contains artifical sweetner called Aspertame. Years ago, Micah used to complain that when he drank this juice it gave him a headache. Well, its been so many years since he drank it that I forgot about his reaction to it. We think that that is what happened. We are going to keep a journal of what he eats/drinks so we can see what else triggers his headaches.
Thanks for praying for him!
Micah’s Migraine
We wanted to send out a news flash to let you all know that we would like you to pray for Micah. He has been having headaches off & on this past year. Normally, he puts himself to bed and sleeps it off…but today, he came home with a really bad headache and began to vomit. He complained & was crying about the pain. Then all of a sudden he began to try to tell us that his right arm was numb but he couldn’t get the words out and they were slurred. We ran to get our co-workers, started looking up on the internet about migraines, and in the medical books. Finally, we decided to take him to the nearest hospital, which is about an hour away. He vomited quite a bit on the trip, but he tends to get car sick easily. Once we arrived at the “emergency ward”, they got him to lie down on the bed. I won’t even begin to say what the place looked like or smelled like. Anyway, its so routine for doctors and nurses to think that the patient has malaria, so that was their first concern. We assured them that he had no fever, but they insisted on testing him. They didn’t call a doctor but wanted to wait for the results. They came back an hour later with the results that he had a mild dose of malaria in his system. They still wouldn’t call the doctor so we decided to come home. Micah was already showing signs of getting better and his headache was not so severe.
He is sleeping now. He was able to eat & drink a little. Pray that we can find out how we can help him thru these migraines. Pray that he won’t get worse.
Thanks for praying!
Thanks for praying!
Kelsey is feeling much better! Her fever is almost gone! We had a good night and she was able to rest well. We appreciate you praying for her!
Pray for Kelsey
There is a nasty flu bug going around here. Several missionaries and kids have had it. Kelsey started feeling sick yesterday…came home from school and went straight to bed. Her symptoms are mostly fever, aches and sore throat. Today her fever was quite high-104F. Pray that she gets better soon…gets lots of rest and fluids!
Thanks!
